Now at Tattershall & Corfe Castle National Trust Properties
We’re delighted to have just added the National Trust’s wonderful Corfe Castle and Tattershall Castle to the growing list of castles stocking Castle Trumps. It’s always hugely satisfying for us to see Castle Trumps sold at the castles themselves- where they were born to be!
The dramatic and ruggedly beautiful Corfe Castle has been a Saxon stronghold, a Norman fortress, a royal palace and a family home in ten centuries of dominating the Purbeck landscape. Corfe was strategically important to William and his successors because it defended their links with the Norman heartlands across the Channel, and it is a mark of Corfe’s importance that the natural motte of the castle mound was one of the first to be topped with stone walls.
The magnificent C15th red brick medieval tower of Tattershall Castle rises proudly from the flat Lincolnshire fens, and- built in an era of stone- this fortified manor is one of the earliest and the finest surviving examples of medieval brickwork.
